Man dies after Wastwater diving accident

A diver has died after getting into difficulty at Wastwater in Wasdale, Seascale.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Police received a report from North West Ambulance Service about the incident shortly after 12pm today (21 April) and officers attended to assist other emergency service personnel.

“The diver pulled from Wastwater earlier this afternoon, a man in his 60s from the Lancs area has died.

“The next of kin of the man have been informed and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

“A file will be prepared to be passed on to the coroner.”
