I made a trip to a department store today, and it seems like there is a lot of texture out there for fall --- always kind of odd for me here in southern California, but that's another topic. I saw a lot of corduroy, leather, suede, and sueded fabrics.

I also came across something called "washable suede" -- the label identifies it as real leather, and says it can be machine washed. Has anyone out there actually washed a "washable suede" garment? If so, was the result satisfactory? Obviously, it can't be scrubbed, but I'm curious to see if this is for real.

I don't own any but where I bought my leathers the lady was wearing it. She says she just puts it in the laundry and it comes out great. I was a little unsure about it as well, but the outfit she was wearing looked great and she said it feels great.

I thought it just sounded too good to be true.

I have a pair of suede chaps for horseback riding, and have always washed them in the machine with a lot of fabric softener.

And then hang to dry. I prefer leather to suede (yes I know it's the inside) but I like the feel of leather and the look and the smell and the reactions you get when you wear it. I guess I just like leather. :)
