If you are coming to Tetamanu Village for the full moon grouper sprawling next week - be warned - you probably won’t be able to dive unless you booked elsewhere already with Top Dive etc.

The owner of Tetamanu Village Sane Richmond seems like a terrible boss and treated his dive instructors and staff horribly. All DMs quit including last one today. Some fellow divers and I were lied to and were told everything were fine even hours before arrival, till we got here and were told not possible to dive. He didn’t even have the courtesy to tell everyone face to face and turned off his phone, letting the poor staff to relay the bad news. Of course it is high season and other shops in the south were unable to accommodate.

It seems they are expecting 60 guests next week due to the sprawling event…not sure how they can actually manage to fit that many on the property…so far the word is that he is negotiating with 1 instructor to potentially start on the 10th. Even then, most who come will likely be disappointed.

Just thought I need to share this important PSA in case any fellow members on scubaboard are coming.

Where would this be?

Specifically, at the southern end of Fakarava atoll.
Apparently they are having problem keeping instructors and the greedy owner couldn’t care less whether the divers can dive or not as long as they pay the $ to stay, and then left the poor staff to deal with angry guests upon arrival. Very disgusting.

Can anybody comment on the wifi or cell service connectivity at any of the pensions/resorts you may have stayed at in Rurutu, Rangiroa, Fakarava, or Nuku Hiva?

Vini has fairly decent coverage on smaller islands. Avoid Vodafone in your case.

Rurutu: at the Vaitumu Village Resort - free wifi, best if you are at the Lobby and restaurant, very weak in the room/bungalow
South Fakarava: at Tetamanu Village: you have to pay for wifi, I did not try it.
North Fakarava: at Pension Kori-Kori - free wifi.....same story, best of at the Lobby......
Rangiroa: at Pension Teina et Marie - free wifi.....and same story........
