Please don't do what I did. DO NOT reseal your empty scouts!
Or any light without batteries. I tried to open one to put new batteries in. Hmmm, it's not opening. Tried again. Damn it, what's wrong? Looked in at the bulb. Noticed moisture on the inside of the lense. That's odd. Finally after nearly 15 minutes of cranking on the thing, it starts to turn! Then as it cleared the last thread, BOOM!! The cap goes shooting off, leaving a mark on my wall! Apparently the old batteries I took out must have leaked, leaving acid in the light. It corroded the metal parts inside creating pressure and voila! A perfectly good scout F-ed up! Thank the maker my other one is okay.
Lesson learned. Downside: Gotta replace my scout. Upside: Gonna replace it with one of them next gen scouts!
