When I lived in Indonesia for two years I was based in Jakarta but moved a lot around in the country for the job. My contract was finished so I left and went back to Europe.
But I am currently on my way back to Indonesia (now in KL, will pick up my visa tomorrow at the embassy ) and plan to stay another six months to do my DM and then some DMing in Labuan Bajo/Komodo.
