I absolutly agree with you! Also, if you happen to come across a wreck of spanish origin;with lots of interesting artifacts, for God sake, don't tell any one! Definitly, do not try to go legal!!!The moment you do, you will lose all chances, to ever claiming, anything from the wreck! The only one who will make out is your attorney!!Win or lose, he will always win, because you pay him either way. Just Loot the wreck any way you can, as secreatly as you can. Other wise you will end up with nothing. Don't buy that "Cultural Heritage" crap, that archeologists put out. Capt Tom

Yup, Believe me i do everything Legal an obey all laws (im a cop) But when it comes to this stuff the Legal way will get you screwed. Basically the lawmakers are saying "if i cant have it you cant have it". That's bullcrap. I got certified, i spent the cash, i did the research and i put my life on the line so you better believe i will take what is rightfully mine.

As far as human bones go i dont know anyone who wants that stuff hangin around their house.

Go ahead call me a modern day Pirate caus im proud of it.

I just finished a great book about diving on a wreck and how they chose to deal with the remains. It is SHADOW DIVERS by Robert Kurson.

In short, dive the reck, but LEAVE THE DEAD ALONE! They would not even disturb the sailors to get worn artifacts. I give them a lot of respect for the way they handled them selves and it makes me proud to proclaim they were divers.

I read it

Thats a book.......Do you really think they would tell you if they had a skull sittin at home. Most of that is prob made up to keep your attention and sell copies.

I don't see diving the site as disturbing the graves. Taking things from the bodies is robbing the grave but taking a dish, tool, or something similar isn't. We don't bury ourselves with all the "crap" that goes down with a vessel. Similarly I would visit a graveyard and if I saw a gold coin laying around I'd probably take it. No I wouldn't take a locket off a tomb or flowers, etc. Wrecks and graveyards shouldn't be sealed off as long as the dive is respectful. Same thing goes if I'm the body in one of those wrecks some day.

Common at what point in time are we then allowed to dive these wrecks? Who makes that decision? Its ok to dig up and Egyptian tombs, Native Americans and even Jesse James but we cant dive a wreck.....Screw them all if they cant have the glory then nobody can do it.....common

The laws have bred people like me and the stricter they get the more History will be lost stored in divers basements and garages.

At what point in time is does it then become ok

If the wreck is a US warship...IT IS TRESPASSING and if the Government gets wind of your activity...They will prosecute!!

If it has been declared off limits such as the Edmund Fitzgerald...They would prosecute!!

This macho, modern day pirate image you've been actively cultivating would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
