I received a couple of e-mails from MSRA this week. The first talked about two new wrecks that have been located in the last couple of weeks. The second was not as exciting. It seems that they are about $1800 short of the goal to bring Dave Trotter in and do a week of wreck hunting this year. With the $4.00 per gal. gas prices this year's search is going to cost more.

Ralph Wilbanks and the team from NUMA have been here looking for Northwest Airlines flight 2501 and found two new wrecks but Ralph's work is only a portion of the survey work that MSRA does each year. (If you are a Clive Cussler fan, yes there is a real group called NUMA that Clive Cussler funds. Ralph Wilbanks and NUMA are the ones that found the confederate Submarine "CSS Hunley")

The work that MSRA has done over the last 10 years has added a number of wreck sites to the west Michigan list. Check out their web site for details.

I've met many of the members of the Great Lakes Wrecking Crew and know how much we all love to dive wrecks. Well here is a chance to put your money to work finding more great wrecks for us to dive. Please visit the web site and seriously consider joining MSRA as a member or making a donation. (Your contribution is tax deductible) If everyone who claims to be a wreck enthusiast joined up, the funding shortfall would be a thing of the past!

Thanks for your support. If you have any questions about MSRA or their activities, PM me or the "Old Pirate". He is a charter member and is on the MSRA Board of Directors.

Come on GLWC. Let's pull together and support MSRA to find some more wrecks!

Wow, Jim. Thanks! We appreciate it. A few folks like you have come forth and joined at levels over the minimum lately and that's going to make a big difference. We also appreciate the support of Kimm, Brad and Jon of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Research Foundation and, by extention, many of you who attend Ghostships and participate in their raffle! their grant have enabled us to survey and document the shipwrecks that we have found and ultimately, present them to all of you as dive sites and great stories of Great lakes maritime history!
