my first dive experience after being ow cert. last year was in the cenotes in
tulum. Since then i have done more dives and each was great, but , I want more, and I also want color and life and high adventure. Has any one done tulum and cozumel with budget constraints? I would love some leads. I am gung ho but i dont want to sleep in a hammok...lol
thanks. wendy

welcome to scuba board. have never been to mexico but am going to cancun in august and looking forward to diving the cenotes. which dive operator did you use?

wendy - thank you, i will contact them and will let you know when i return.

This past October, I stayed at the Dreams resort in Tulum. My wife booked the trip so I'm not sure of all of the details, but it included airfare, transportation to and from the resort and all meals. For the two of us it was just over $2000... That's not bad considering how nice the place is. There's a dive shack right on the beach too (Maya Diving). hope this helps...

Welcome to the board. I just got back from Tulum, Mexico a couple weeks ago. I dove with Maya Diving out of the Dreams Resort. I agree that the cenotes are wonderful, and can't wait to go back. Which cenotes did you go to?

hi. I dove, Dos Ojos
Bat Cave
Tanka
Sting Ray
Grand Cenote
and Temple of Doom has a ladder that is not so easy to climb up with all your gear on so ask to take off your bc and tanks and have them hand them up to you. I did not know this, got literaly stuck on the last rung of the ladder and had a nice man come over and give me a hand up to the last step. always learning the hard way.
but do it , it was breath taking and all the cenotes are beautiful. if you can go in the morning and not on a weekend when its less crowded, you will really feel the spirit.

I did Dos Ojos, Temple of Doom and Angelita. I didn't find the ladder that difficult to manuever at the Temple of Doom, but that was in a single tank and I'm used to diving doubles and climbing back on board a rocking boat with them as well as a deco tank. The ladder was quite rusty though so have to watch out for cuts. Otherwise they were all great dives. I was one of 5 on the Dos Ojos/Bat Cave dive so I did Dos Ojos and another diver took my place and did the Bat Cave. I climbed down the ladders to the platform at the Bat Cave and met the group I was with as they came up. Both of them were truly amazing dives.

darly, maybe the ladder is a old lady thing...lol....glad you had great times as i did . it was really special and i want to do some of the others also. But i am really wanting to go to Cosumel this time and dive with the whale sharks..i hear they are there till aug...so i am hoping it all comes together.

Hey SMG,
Welcome to the SB, you'll find all your diving needs here under one roof!

I've been to all the cenotes you mentioned, and they are beautiful, and that ladder gave me trouble and I was only diving a single Al80. I think if I had lots of practice I could get used to it though...maybe one day.

:lotsalove:
All the best,
Geoff
