I'm going to the Wakatobi Dive Resort next year. Any advice for a first time visitor to Wakatobi and Indonesia? How much gear are you allowed on their charter plane? Any of the dive managers or staff stand out? How was the food?

Read the info they give in FAQ. When we went precovid it was more a discount if you had less gear than their generous limits. They put supplies on the plane, too. It's a pretty good sized Garuda plane. Chris was a great guide but I think he's gone.
Food was outstanding.

We're just back from Wakatobi last week and slowly readjusting back from the 12 hour time difference. Funny, that I have been up at 4am every day all week and can't keep my eyes open past 9 pm. Nathalie on the other hand is the opposite, she can't get to sleep before 3 am. Hopefully we'll get in sync again soon!

Nat wrote up our trip on her blog, and has put lots of details about the room, dive operation, and amenities as well as the diving and all the creatures we saw. In summary we had a great time. It was a wonderful experience and a special birthday celebration trip for us. Our first time in Indonesia. Haven't seen reefs as healthy anywhere else we have been (of course, many on this forum are better travelled than we are). Still smiling when we think about those healthy corals.

Bring a electric plug strip and Indonesian wall plug adapter (two round prong). These apps will be helpful if ur Murican... WhatsApp for free chats/calls, Wise for payments/money transfers, and Grab/Gojek (Indonesia specific) for rides and food delivery. All ubiquitous in SE Asia.

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO. IS THERE NOW A RINSE TANK FOR THE WETSUIT? We were there years ago and couldn't rinse our wetsuit for the whole week.
