I'm a Fish!
Wohooo! I'm going to Wakatobi next year :D :D

I'm trying to decide if it's worth the added $2-300 to have a sunset beach unit versus a south beach unit.

Anyone stayed there and can tell me their thoughts? Any photos to share?

Thanks!

Alcina....I am going in October.....I took what ever I could get 8 months ago..... if you got the bucks....go for it....but your in western Aussie land....you must get great sunsets?....just a thought.

Looking forward to hearing how you like it! If you remember, can you take some photos looking out from the beach units? I don't really see much on the resort itself on their web site other than the standard room shots ;) I like to see more of the grounds!

Yeah, we get stunners for sunsets here but there's something about kicking back on holiday...but I'll probably just settle for the south beach unit and peek around the corner ;)

Still love to hear from anyone who has already been there...

1st of all, thanks for all your help in the past....Guess what, wife & I are looking to go there in June '08....can't wait....looks like I'll be asking for more help(on the travel side this time).......Thanks........

diver - I won't be able to help much as I'm not going until October 08! We'll have to pick travel's brain!

I have decided to spend the extra $200 and get a south facing beach unit. Why not? I never get to do trips like this so I'm treating!

Also, if you are looking to go in 08 book NOW - you'll get 2007 rates if you confirm your booking before 01 August!!! We ended up with a great deal.

Hi Alcina, When I went I stayed at one of the beach bungalows to the north of the jetty, so that must be west-facing, and possibly one of the "sunset" rooms. Those are the original ones. The "garden" ones just behind it are very nearly on the beach, too, as they sit behind and between the row of beachfront ones. It was very convenient to the dive center, the camera room and the jetty from there, whereas the ones on the other beach (south facing, maybe?) are a bit further away. When I was there, they hadn't finished the new restaurant yet, so the rooms to the south of the jetty and those on the other beach are closer to food than they were before. With the improvements, it looks to me like the rooms to the south of the jetty are the most central, and that is also the area you come up to when you dive the house reef wall. If I were going again, I think I'd still choose the ones to the north of the jetty--either beachfront or garden, and the ones to the south of the jetty (not the ones on the other beach) would be my backup choice.

Hope that helps!
