Wakatobi - Bali Hotels

I just got back from 2 weeks in Ubud. Try the Alam Shanti/Alam Jiwa hotels, small family run and better than a lot of 5 star places I stayed in at a much lower cost.

I would skip the Hotel Tjampuhan Spa. We were there about two weeks ago, and checked out after a night. Eveything is nice, but it is a long walk into Ubud and its actually pretty run down for the cost.

I think you have to expect that when you stay in a place that's kind of a piece of history, it's going to be a bit worn around the edges. Is it all shiny and new? Nope. But in our experience it was spotless, the staff was exceedingly gracious (but then everyone is in Bali), and well worth the stay. Different strokes, right?
