I just bought a Vytec and I'm thinking about changing the sampling rate to 10 seconds. But, I'm not sure how many dives are stored in memory and if the oldest are simply replaced when more memory is needed. Is old data just overwritten? Also, when dives are downloaded is the information copied to the PC or actually moved (erased from the Vytec)?

The specs say approx. 36 hours of dive time with 20 second interval, so I'd guess it will store 18 hours when it's changed to 10 seconds.

When more memory is needed, the oldest one is erased.
When the data is downloaded, the profiles stay in the Vytec. You can verify this by downloading, deleting the dives in Dive Manager, and then downloading again. The dives that you deleted will be downloaded again. (If you don't want them, you have to put it in the 'ignore' list so that Dive Manager will not add it to the log every time it downloads those dives.)

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

I have my sample rate set to 10 seconds, and prefer it there, as I download often.

If I was going on a liveaboard trip with no computer to download to, I might increase it to 20 or 30 seconds to insure that I don't "roll off" any of the dives before I get back.
