I just bought a Suunto Vytec and I need to know if there is any way (perhaps with the PC download kit) to change the default low pressure alarm. It's set at the factory for 725psi (or 750?) and can't be changed using the menus on the computer.

Anyway, I use E8-130 tanks and I'd like to change the factory low pressure alarm to 500psi. I know you can add a secondary alarm but I want to change the primary factory default.

Does anybody know if that can be done?

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I couldn't see any way to do it either. I had heard of some folks talking about making changes to the computer through the PC download kit interface cable. But, I can't remember if that was with the Vytec or some other computer. It's a shame it can't be changed since 750psi in an E8-130 is almost 30cf. That's a big reserve!

I guess I'll have to set the secondary alarm and ignore the first. Bummer.

I have the suunto download cable and dont see any way to change it on there either. If i run across something i'll let you know.

I know how you feel as i have double E-7 100's. I constantly check my air and dont rely on the beepers and air warnings any how as most of the time i dont even hear them. Either im going deaf or the sound doesnt travel through my thick hood to well :D

The 50 Bar "primary" alarm can't be changed. The secondary pressure alarm can be changed, when you are in the "wireless transmission settings" menu, from 10 to 200 bar. Or PSI - if your Vytec is set to PSI.

You can change it, and you don't need any fancy downloads.

Just follow the manual or the flow chart. I believe it is in the Set Dive, Preferences section.

I set mine down to about 450 because I dive at least a single LP 108, and often double 104s, so 500 psi is still a lot of air, especially if you are shallow or carrying stage bottles!

You can also turn off the alarm sound so it just flashes at you when it reaches the number.

Do consider accuracy!! Just because it's digital doesn't mean it's right. If your pressure sensor is off by 10%, that is 300 psi out of a 3000 psi fill----so 300 psi is EMPTY! If you do dive below 500 psi, stay CLOSE to your buddy or the surface; consider the possibility that each inhale may be your last from that tank.

According to my Vytec manual (page 56) "You can set the secondary cylinder pressure alarm point. The 50 bar alarm is fixed and can not be changed. The 35 bar secondary alarm pressure can be set in the range 10-200 bar."

Unless I'm missing something (very possible), you guys are talking about changing the secondary alarm, not the primary.

No, you are not confused. The secondary pressure alarm can be set above the primary (which is fixed at 50 bar or 735psi). If you set the secondary above that, then it should ring first.

So if I set the secondary alarm at 350psi, that alarm will sound before the primary (which is set at 735psi)?
