I am going on a trip where we will be using double tanks(as two single configuration), two regs.
Transmitter on one reg, SPG on the other
I have a VT3, and am not sure if this setup can work.
I didn't want the expense of another transmitter and mucking around
every 50 bar or so changing from T1 to T2. What will the VT3 think
if I am at depth breathing from the non transmitter tank.....and how does that affect
the deco etc......
any thoughts greatly appreciated

As long as the 2 tanks are the same mixture it isn't a safety issue.
You'll need to be aware that the air time remaining will not be accurate and the SAC rate reported in the log will be wrong.
The computer will accurately report N2 and PO2 levels during the dive and give you accurate warning for those levels.

would the normal practice to be to use two transmitters.......?
thanks for your replies

The computer will think your sac is amazing when you breathe off the non transmitter tank. And your air time remaining will be wrong...

I've done this before when diving independent doubles...

If you are breathing the same gas, your deco (on the computer and in reality) will not be effected at all.
