I like my Vyper a lot. But the temptation of buying a new comp that can do average depth on the fly is VERY appealing for caving.

They aren't very reliable. My Aldin tech has died once already and the 2g is having the same issues.

I can depth average in my head but have always calculated a bit deep. Having the gauge do it has refined my guesstimates.

wait a while untill these issues are ironed out... (2-3 years) and then maybe get one for ease of use. In the mean time.... average with the wet finger in the air. 21m for ginnie, 15m for peacock etc. It's not that accurate anyway given the profile. If one wants better tracking in those profiles..... a computer would work best. Up to that point it will always be a bit of guess work.
