Would like to hear about any volunteer diving opportunities involving wrecks and/or marine archaeology, especially ones that are nonprofit, tax exempt, i.e. CEDAM and Combined Caesarea Expedition in Israel. Thanks.

The aquarium in Chattanooga uses volunteer divers.

They have sent me stuff for the past few years, but they want
all this "intrusive" information on you (social security number,
drivers license, agreements to do private investigator checks
on you, etc) and they want you to all this "required" coursework
that only they teach, etc. We got through reading all
the requirements and said "screw that". They want to much
from their volunteers just to dive in a 10 foot wide saltwater tank.

It is not likely without being a student at one of the universities like Texas A&M.

They generally find it more effective to make a trained archaeologist into a diver than to make a diver into an archaeologist.

There are other volunteer dive projects out there, but not specifically archaeological. Earthwatch is one, though a bit pricey. Coral Cay is another, though it generally caters to young Brits on their 'gap year'. There are other options out there. Keep searching. I've worked with both of the above mentioned organizations and overall thought it was a terrific experience.

Good luck in your search.

You can be a volunteer diver with Mel Fisher looking for Attocha (spelling?)
treausre in the Tortugas. Of course to dive with them you have to
"invest" with their company for a one year period. (several thousand
dollars). Oh well...

I know Earth Watch are looking for instructors poss for Jan in SE Asia.
