Visability in Tenkiller has been getting worse all through July. In June there were places with 10 to 15 foot visability. In July without rain and runoff to explain the mud entering the lake, the mud layers moved down from Cookson, then Turkey Bluff, Mob House, Sand Bass Bay, Skunk Island, last weekend even Crappie Point, near the dam has reduced visability.

Aug 1 a Tulsa TV station reports an investigation under way into an illegal dam created in Barren Fork stream. A steady flowing stream was redirected by a dam 6 feet high and several hundred feet long.

Heavy earth moving in the watershed of any lake will hurt the visability. Oklahoma has designated the Illinois River and watershed a Scenic River, with laws to protect it. If the heavy bulldozing is stopped, the visability should start improving.
