My wife and I are going to be in Tampa a couple of weeks in early June. She is just getting certified and I'm wonderering what some easy dives would be that I wouldn't worry too much about. It doesn't matter to me how shallow it is, as long as it's something we can do together and she can get some bottom time in and become a little more comfortable before we get to doing anything that might be more dangerous.

Thanks for any help!

check in with us here for more Tampa local info. http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=140005

That time of year is Hurricane season here so depending on the weather at the time you may want to plan a Gulf dive with a Spring dive back-up plan. A nice easy Gulf dive would be the M60 Army tanks. A nice spring dive woud be Rainbow river.

Well since your gonna be in Tampa a few weeks and your wife is fairly new to scuba.
I think you should make a day trip about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs north depending on the traffic to Crystal river and snorkel and dive with the manatee's in the morning a then do a afternoon drift dive on the Rainbow river both dive are very safe. I think the Rainbow river max depth is 21' and the water is gin clear. If you go in the middle of the week you will avoid the crowds. We have used the folks and they were excellent with good prices. They have lots of options to dive.
