I've finally picked up an A640 and am waiting for the Ikelite case. I'll post some photos and the settings I plan to try out by mid-June. 'just too long to wait!

I have an Inon D2000 that I used with my Oly 8080 and liked Inon's clear photo system. But, just to play around I was looking for materials that would serve the same purpose. Here is what I found:
  • Four layers of Congo Blue filter gel, Lee #181 (or Rosco #382), blocks out visible light and triggers the Inon D2000 through the optical cable.
  • I also tried the filter with a Sea and Sea YS-110 and it works as well.
  • Same for my old Ikelite Slave Sensor. It consistently triggers my SS200 out to a distance of about 6".
  • Cost of a 20" x 24" sheet of Lee #181 is $6.50. Even with shipping, it's cheap enough to play around with. People who have a theater supply shop nearby can save on the shipping.
Now to figure out how best to use it. I can cut small rectangles and tape it over the flash, but was considering glueing the filter to the inside of the housing. I'll let you know what I find works well. I was thinking of just using rubber cement as being innocuous, but if anybody has any ideas about a decent, removable, adhesive, I'd welcome your input.
