Good day,

I don't know if it is the good forum but please pardon me if I make a mistake.
I have one question :
I dive with a Suunto VYPER. I always pay lot of attention for acsending, stop and so on. I never ever put my computer in error and never got it. Nevertheless, when I transfer the data to my computer, sometimes I get the violation signal:confused:. Why I don't know, i redo the dive and see nothing wrong. Did someone already experienced this kind of problem ?

Thank for your support.

Don't know about your Vyper, but with my Vytech, it was usually an ascent rate violation. The computer gets unhappy if you put your arm up in the air . . . ANY quick movement upsets it.

Yes this is right it is very sensitive... few centimetre and hop....

But do you think it is the reason that I have violation in my logbook ? Violation is quite important
and I want to be sure not to do something wrong.

I have a Suunto Mosquito, It records momentary violations like the short term too fast ascent from an arm swing. When I scroll the data to review the profile, the violation flag will appear at the time when I incurred it.

I don't know about downloads because I don't use the feature, but possibly the flag appears as a heads-up to let you know that at some time during the dive a violation had occurred. I suggest you re-read the sections of the manual dealing with violations and downloads, carefully looking for anything that covers the issue.

You might also scroll the dive data for that dive and see if, in fact, there was a noted violation.

Good luck

Lynn picked up on it. I used to be abffled by this violation as well.

When I first learned to dive back in the '70's, my instructor insisted on popping your arm up above your head for the last 15 feet. The idea was to keep from banging your head on a boat/log/misc. floating item. Of course, that was before computers came into use. I kept up the habit when skin diving and still do it today.

It fianally dawned on me, one day, that lifting my hand abovce my head with my Vytec on my wrist was the cause of my ascent violations.

I decided I didn't like my comuter on my wrist and went back to using my Cobra. Mots of the ascent violations went away. Ta Da!

I started seeing violations at the very beginning of a dive on my vyper.
I then noticed that it was at the beninning of the second dive. I haven't looked in the manual, but I think it was because of a SIT less than 1 hour.

I also see violations on quick sharp ascents that are very short distances say 60 to 55 feet.

Thanks Don Francisco, Ianw2, Cfelliot I went through the manual (before to send this request but I found nothing corresponding to that kind of violation. I check for the time elapse between two dives and they are near one hour more or less... Let's see one day if I try another computer...

My wife has a Viper and I have a Mosquito. We have BOTH gotten violations during the same dive that I don't believe were valid. We stuck pretty close together, so either they WERE violations, or there is some glitch/conservatism in the Suuto calcs.

In every case this happened, we simply followed the ascent limits the computer was giving us and all was well. They DID show up in the downloads.

Thank you! I downloaded my first set of dives from my Aeris computer and was startled by how many of my dives have a too rapid ascent flag right at the end of the dive when I typically pay more attention to how rapidly I'm ascending since the ascent is deliberate (rather than absent minded - or due to following the bottom). I routinely raise my arm (the one with the computer on my wrist) above my head on ascent, so that explains it.

Interesting that there is nothing in the manual regarding this type of violation.

My SIT was 45min at the start of this dive.
