Hey Y'all, I have an old calypso first stage that I use with an air chuck and blow gun. The quick connect LP hose is attached to the second stage port because there is only one LP and one HP connection on the regulator. Recently, the first stage seemed to simply seize up. The gauge is registering the correct pressure but there is nothing coming out of the LP port. I purchased a repair kit from Vintage Double Hose, but I am looking for an exploded view diagram of an old calypso before I take her down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, they are available at Vintage Double Hose. Go to Vintage Double Hose - Index page
scroll down to the bottom and select Manuals and Catalogs.

There is also a service video VDH made.

I have two old Calypso regulators but they have pistons.

If you don't find it at VDH you can try this place:

Edit: I should wake up before I post anything--I thought is said "diaphragm" but is says diagram. :|

Thanks for the good info. My reg looks to be a older than whats listed, but after watching the VDH utube and checking out frogkick I'm ready. I think that as long as I stand to the side when I test her for the first time it will be OK. It's not like I'm going to hook up the second stage. Well maybe this summer. Oh I forgot it will have to be rebuilt too. Thanks for the help, and if all goes well I will try to post a picture from my flip phone.

The older ones with only two ports are very simple inside. If I'm not mistaken the only way to adjust the IP pressure is by adding/removing a shim. There are two O-rings on the piston. There is one more O-ring under the inlet filter. All the corrects sizes came in one of my boxes of O-rings. The seat can be flipped over at least once. Is yours the one with the J-valve? My Calypso-J was being used for the same purpose until very recently. Now, instead of a blower or nail gun it has a Dacor second stage and an old US Divers SPG. It seems to work just fine. I think the hardest part was removing the cap without a spanner. There is a very simple way to do it but I can't think of it at the moment. I'll let you know when it comes back to me.

The first stage that most closely resembles my Calypso is called a Deepstar 1056-00. If you can't find the correct parts list/diagram let me know and I'll copy this one. I am calling it a Calypso because that is what it used to say on the second stage. Perhaps it was switched but it seems unlikely. On the parts list it says "See: Second Stage 1048-00 Calypso-J" so I think that's the second stage that originally came with it.

I should have mentioned this after reading your first post, but if you don't have a second stage attached to relieve runaway intermediate pressure, you must have a pressure relief valve such as this: Over-Pressure Relief Valve (User Adjustable)

Yes, I had to leave the reg on the tank for 3 days until it bled down. I usually bleed the pressure from the air chuck, but since the malfunction I just had to wait. No joy though. My Calypso has a diaphragm. there is a small pin between the diaphragm and the center of the hp seat. There in lies the problem, the pin wore out the seat. Getting old is a pain and then you die, I will put it all back together and reattach the original 2nd stage and keep it as a non-functioning reminder of the past, but THANKS for the good help.
PS: I have found an ?ebay? store 'ONE MORE CHANCE SCUBA' that I hope will supply me with a functioning 1st stage for a reasonable price. Would you have an opinion on Calypso vs Conshelf 1st stages or maybe some other brand? I dive with an Aqua Lung Micra, but I still maintain my original Aquarius as a backup. I was thinking that I might want to use the Aquarius first stage as a tire inflator and attach my vintage USD second stage to a sexy 'new to me' first stage to use as a back up?

I've bought a few things from Omar at One More Chance and if something was not as expected I'm sure he'd make it right.

Thanks for the recommendation, I am looking to buy a replacement for an old first stage that I have had and used for many years, I did not buy my Calypso from Omar, but I hope to do some more business with him soon.

If you've shut off the tank valve, you can SLOWLY remove either the plug or hose from the HP port and bleed the pressure off. (If you were getting IP pressure, you could do the same with a LP port.)

Before you give up, contact Bryan at Vintage Double Hose and let him know what parts you need. I'm pretty sure he'll have it.
