I'm going to be vacationing on Matha's vineyard for a week this summer and I was wondering if anyone has done any diving down there?

Is there a on-island dive shop? Are there any charter boats running out of there?

Anyone know any good shore dive spots?

Thanks!

yes there is a dive shop there. Its in Oak bluffs off circuit ave extension. I cant believe i forgot the name considering i live 5 min from there. Ill try to find the number for yah.

Thanks mvdiver, that's the best news I've heard in a while! Any info you can pass along is much apprecitated. I'm espically interested in shore dive spots, and catching a charter out to the Port Hunter. And if you need a dive buddy in July, I'd love to go for a swim with you.

Basically, how's the diving down there? Things I want to avoid include shallow (10') dives over just sand in a strong rip current (i.e. south beach).

Well,I thought I'd bump this up in the hope that someone couldoffer some guidance.

I spoke with the dive shop on MV, but, they really weren't that helpful. So, I'm thinking that if I can't get on a decent charter off the island, I might head down (to Woods Hole) a day early and maybe go out on a charter leaving from that area of the cape. Can anyone recommend one?

I really want to dive the Port hunter, MV lightship, John Dwight, etc.

Thanks!
