Sorry Robin, didn't mean to mess up your gender there. And I am in no way implying that you are stupid.

In video, as with most things, familiarity brings with it a set of problems. One of them being that what looks perfectly fine to someone who does not spend all day analyzing videos, looks clearly different to someone who does. I get this with clients all the time. I'll change bitrates by 200k and see it just as clear as day, and they can't see the difference if I had $100 bet on it.

Still frames are generally a bad way to compare video as many of the issues are temporal and can only be seen while the video is playing. But I do apologize if you think I was trying to paint you as "stupid". Certainly not my intention.

This reminds me of my experiences with diopters and the wetpixel members.

I have a single element flip diopter on my housing for macro video. A few of the pro/semipro members on wetpixel suggested that if I tried a fixed multi-element diopter I would thow away my single element flip diopter.

Well, I bought the fixed multi, saw a difference and I still use my flip single. Both have their places. Multi for dedicated macro dives, flip single for more flexibility.

In a nutshell, my amateur hobbyist eyes see a quality difference, but still find the single acceptable. To the wetpixel pros, the single is garbage. :coffee:
