I think they meant Caribe Blu was booked since they list other hotels as available that week for there packages. I hope to here from them soon but I guess our next choices would be Casa Mexicana, looks like there is no beach but breakfast is included. Or Vista Del Mar, I like being in town and walking to lunch and dinner.

I'm not sure sure if you are waiting to hear from me or Caribe Blu...just confused since you refer to my website above and then say you're waiting to hear back. I haven't received any e-mails that would match your requests. Please resend if you have sent an e-mail and I haven't responded...it usually means I didn't get it.

Casa Del Mar has better rates from time to time. If you like staying in town, check out Villa Las Anclas. Pretty sure you can get for less the $100/night. Not trying to change your dive op choice but they can hook you up with Blue Angel for a pretty good combo rate and probably drive you there in the a.m. to make your dives.

Casa Del Mar keeps coming up at $109.20/night. Is that a good rate for them? I was hoping to spend less on the room.

Yes, you can get it for significantly less, but that is still less than their published rates on their website: http://www.casadelmarcozumel.com/eng/rates.asp

If you know of a web address or other way to book a room there at a better discount please let me know. Expedia says 109.20.

I have emailed Caribe Blu regarding a room and am waiting on there response. At this point they are still my 1st choice.

For Casa del Mar I've gotten the best rates by filling out the form on their website and asking what their best rate is for the dates I want. The $109 rate (per room) is their AI promotion - all food and drink inlcuded. www.casadelmarcozumel.com/eng/promotions.asp If you want just a room, fill out the form and ask them for their best rate or any specials for your dates. https://secure.cometocozumel.com/casadelmar/eng/reservations.asp

March is a busy travel time so I'm not sure you'll get anything really cheap.

I checked Las Anclas for some March dates last week and no luck. That's the 3rd time I've tried and they were booked. I think I need to start planning further out to stay there.

For a better rate at CDMar, you would have to book through one of their booking agents who has special rates....and no, I don't know who those would be other than travel agents and dive shops who contaract with them. I am not a travel agent but have contracts with certain hotels to offer discounted rates to my divers.

Since you are diving with Papa Hogs, why not see what they can do for you. I am sure they offer some hotel packages as well.

You haven't indicated your travel dates, but March is filling up all over the place. Caribe Blu has very limited availability remaining for March. They are very popular and fill up fast.

I know hey are now also booked for several days the first week of March.

I was ready to book at Villa Blanca since we are diving with Papa Hogs, however the reviews I keep reading are so mixed that I have not yet booked a room. We want someplace nice but don't want to spend a lot. We are arriving March 9th and are looking for some additional hotel recommendations.

Thanks,

Gary
Gary...
If you are diving with "the Hogs" the Villa Blanca will be fine and you will enjoy it. Just tell Mike or Margaret that you would like a "Superior" room if you are doing the Dive/Hotel package thing.

Ron and Christy are right here.

Just have Margaret book you a place at Villa Blanca as part of your package. The bad reports about Villa Blanca are the regular rooms which are like cells.

The superior room at the rate Hog can get you is a great deal. Far better than the ones you are scarfing around trying to get a deal at Vista Del Mar.

Just go see the room before you take it. The Superior rooms are really nice and huge.

I stayed at the Villablanca in October. The place is "okay", and very quiet. However, hot water was in very short supply the last 2 days I was there. The staff seemed to have a "hands off" policy, and didn't seem to like complaints and/or questions too much.

I'm presently in Cozumel, and have been at the Caribe Blu for the last 12 nights. I really like the place and the staff is very friendly. We have had no problems at all. Only 2 things I miss are comfortable chairs in the rooms, and ceiling fans (none of the rooms have them). However, sitting on the balcony each morning sipping fresh brewed coffee and watching the boats come and go more than makes up for the lack of chairs and ceiling fans. The rooms each have a lock-box (you set the combination), which is really convenient. The air-conditioning has worked flawlessly, and hot water has been readily available.

It's gonna be hard to leave :(
