Video from dive on 8/21/11, just prior to Hurricane Irene hitting and closing the dive season for the year off of Cape Hatteras. This was a gorgeous dive so we dove it twice that day. By the end of the 2nd dive the surface current was ripping. Great vis but it became milky by the end of the 2nd dive. Surface temp was 82 and bottom temp 78. We went out on the Lion's Paw with Captain Dave Sommers owner of DiveHatteras.com. What a smooth ride.... so smooth that one of our buddies slept on the way back in! Grab a beer and chips, kick back and enjoy!

Yep, the battery powered wheel chairs really helped in the current. Blue water diver used a gopro head cam and I shot w/ a sony nex 5 in a nauticam housing with the nikonos 15 mm lens. nothing conveys the action of the dive like video. Kudos to BWD for building this 9 minute film from what the 2 cameras captured on the wreck.

Nice video you posted BWD. That weekend of diving really was very good and the British Splendour was at it's best for sure. I am really glad you finally made it out on the boat with us.

But, we are not done for the whole season, just until they let the visitors back on Hatteras Island. There is ferry service across the sound, takes about 90 to 120 mns to cross. NCDOT is working on a temporary bridge they say will be in place in 30 days. Overall we are in great shape at the South end of the Island and the boat is back, ready to go diving again and so are we.

Though we have lost most of September, October and into November can really be some of the best diving when the weather cooperates.
