The two camera bodies are the same size, so the two housings can be used interchangeably with both the Hero3 and Hero3+. The camera controls on the new or slim housing are "softer" or easier to manipulate. Also, it is far less prone to fogging than the old housing. My solution to that with the preexisting housings was to use a small piece of folded paper towel in the housing away from seals. It worked quite well sealing the camera in AC making fogging a non-issue for me. I agree, I don't know of snap-on filters that work with the new slim housing that are currently available.
