John (Sean222), along with his family were nice enough to take me out with them for a day of diving on his boat Saturday. It was pretty foggy topside, so we scrubbed our initial plan of sailing all the way out to the wreck of the Metis and instead dove the Mary Arnold a bit closer in. It was a nice dive, although there was a bit of current topside. John's wife and son stayed up top on fog watch while John and I did the dive.

I cut together a video of the dive:

Also here are a couple of still photos, including one to show you what the fog was like:

Cool! Was the vis as good as it looked in that vid?

So what was the temp, vis, depth?

I left my gear in FL for the first time thinking it would be cold up here and I wouldn't want to dive....man the past weekend killed me!! Saturday seemed like an ideal day to dive. We haven't had any wind in a loooong time. I won't make that mistake again. I really need 2 sets of gear.:)

Nice vid!

BTW, what is the fish in the pic? I have a similar picture that I took on Wednesday night at Sandwich Town Beach.

I wasn't sure what it was.

That picture is a northern sea robin. They are pretty common around here.

Without seeing your picture, there are a few other fish we have in New England that might also be what you saw if it was similar to a northern sea robin. Take a look at the striped sea robin, longhorn sculpin, shorthorn sculpin and sea raven. It would probably be one of those.

Gah!!! You're getting worse! Not only are you consorting with warm water divers and diving in warm water, but now you are even leaving you're gear in FL!?!?!?!!??!! :11:

Quick! Force feed him clamcakes and chowder (speaking of which that is what I had for lunch at Iggy's in Point Judith today)! He is losing touch with his inner Rhody!

Oh and to answer your question, you will really be kicking yourself about leaving your gear..... 64 degrees, max depth 55ft..... 64.... in.... OCTOBER!!! Muwahahahahahahah! :D

Here are a couple of pics from the other night.

Don't laugh at the quality, I know it sucks! :(

(No strobe, or diffuser, first night dive, blah, blah, blah..!!)

One is the sea robin, I guess. Don't know what the other is.

Arrrrgghh!!!

Those are both sea robins just like the one in my picture. It is just that in one picture the big fan like pectoral fins are folded up along the fish's side and in the other they are extended more like in my picture.
