Finally figured out you tube. Here's the link to a little montage. Don't blame me if you get sea sick watching it. I'm using a point and shoot Intova 800 with a flashlight bungied to the strobe.

Mike, where's the good video???

YouTube - The Sask shuffle

Nice videos Mike. The scuba diving in BC shots were beautiful

In the Sask video was the pixelation from your camera or the downloading/hosting process? I sure learned from that dive that it is better to sit still and let the diver come to/past me rather than trying to chase them around (ala blair witch project as John says). I was also thinking I need a wider base or something to stabilize my camera better. No matter how hard I try I can't get a stable shot while moving.

And it's true... Those Converses really do make my feet go faster!

Its like the Blair Witch Project... but underwater!
Good job Dale!
70's porn music to boot!

Thanks John

We did our first dive on the Snake Island wall and I really liked that dive too. I saw my biggest octo yet there (I'm going to say 5-6" arm diameter though my wife says I'm prone to exagerate measurements like that). Nothing out of the ordinary but a lot of variety and some interesting overhangs etc...

Pixelation was likely from the compression or the low-light/speed of the shot. I found that I ended up watching doing the dive through a small viewfinder. I think it's much better to do a site a few times w/o the camera, THEN go and film. It was kind of a bummer to not get to penetrate a bit more, but that camera setup is bulky. Makes everything harder.

I think to get stable shots requires a good tripod of 99% of macro stuff. It's hard to hold a steady shot on a tiny thing and any shaking screws with it (thank god for slow-mo). I'm still working on getting perfect trim but right now I find myself bottom heavy with a lot of weight still on my waist. Unless I fill my feet a bit they will sink and cause me to tip, which is a pain. It's just another thing to tweak.

But alas, I'm out. I got a nice sprain on Sunday after coming back from Madrona Point. Stepping down from a log I rolled my ankle with all my weights and gear on. Ouch.

It was a pain getting out of all my gear and off to the ferry. But she's a trooper and super nurse.
