Veterans Reef - Navy bomber

Has anyone been out to the Veterans Reef and located the Navy bomber? Check out this article from June 2000.

They put it on a barge and used cables to tie it in place then sank it. Shortly after a major storm came through and it was destroyed and washed away. No trace remains.

Oh man! Sounds like a challenge... its got to be out there, prolly buried. Thanks for the info.

Actually it was destroyed. Some small pieces were found but the rest is gone.

Huh! That's interesting stuff. Its amazing that the surging waters from a storm can do so much damage. Are you aware of any plans to add additional pieces to the wreck site?

To be honest I don't know where the site is as I have never visited it.

Think about what the hurricane did to a ship the size of the Spiegal Grove by putting her keel down from a side resting position and then look at the size of the plane. It must have shredded it.

I dove the vet's reef last year around this time and was pretty awesome. Great vis and a lot of fish including a few Goliath Groupers. I plan on diving it within the next month of so.
