I dove (salt water) today with my DC1200. I didn't notice any bubbles or leaking, so put it in the rinse tank for the ride home as usual. Laid it out to air dry for a bit, then brought it into the house. At that point, I noticed a few small droplets of water that appeared to be inside the viewfinder. I opened it and found a few more scattered droplets of water. I've stuck the camera itself into rice and dried the inside of the housing but am not sure what to do next. HELP! Is the housing salvagable? The camera? The o-ring looks good but it is several years old. Advice is appreciated.

check with some paper towel and weights to see if the housing without a camera leaks. swap oring as needed. the camera if it turns on and works after the rice can still be used but expect it may fail shortly.

O rings should be replaced each per year even.if they look ok, per manufacturer. Replace O ring and do submergence/leak test w/o camera inside. If it's dry you should be good to go.

Thanks, everyone. I realized after that post that I actually have a 1400 - not much different, I expect, as it is still in rice and I'm waiting a few days to try it. If the camera works, I'll be looking for an o ring that fits before I leave for Cozumel in 2 weeks.

Go here. I get all my Sealife parts from them. Fast shipping and factory fresh. They have housing O-rings for the 1400.

Thanks, NitroxSam. I'm ordering one now. The camera seems to be functioning fine. I'll get a new o-ring and the integrity of the housing, then decide how to proceed.

I got a replacement camera from SeaLife for $100 after I flooded my 1400, but that was a few years ago. They're probably out by now, but if you're worried about the camera, it won't hurt to ask them.

It appears that the DC 1400 camera is still available via "Sealife Parts Direct" for $189.00.
