My buddy and I boat dive Palos Verdes 1 to 2 times a week. Tonight we thought we would dive a little deeper and anchored in 70' of water. We were in the water around 9PM - Ocean was flat and viz was at least 30+ feet at 70'. So... One big bug in the bag and cruising across the bottom, we stumble across an old wreck in 70' of water. I have a wreck book and its likely the Avalon but there is enough of the superstructure left on the wreck to make it really interesting. Its so cool finding a wreck when we were not looking or expecting it. Finished up 75' max 61' Avg, 35 minutes bottom time - Dived to NDL computer limits but really needed Nitrox as we both had 1200lbs left in our HP 120cf tanks.

Sounds like a fun discovery!

Nothing more annoying than ending a dive with a bunch of unused gas . . . For me, it's usually because I got too cold to stay in the water. But then, I'm already diving Nitrox . . .

Coming across an unexpected wreck would be awesome! Glad you got to experience that....and glad you got a great dive in! I have yet to hit NDL before getting cold, but then again, most of my dives are shore dives and unless we're at Vet's, we aren't usually deep enough....

We both dive dry and wet - I have a Whites Fusion Drysuit and a Aqualung SolAFX 8mm/7mm - The weather and water is so nice at the moment the wetsuit is fine.
My drysuit would have been optimum but I'm in the process of moving to a bigger drysuit.

We will certainly be back out 2-3 times more this week since the conditions are so nice.

Very fortunate - From observation and without knowing your level of fitness, women seem to have the breathing advantage.

If you ever need some mates to swab the deck, help out with gas funds and join in with some diving.... You know who to PM!:praying:

No worries 8) I'm the one swabbing the deck at the moment as its my friend/bosses boat.
