OK...I just bought an Oceanic Versa Pro wrist mount.

I have gone over the manual, and the pictures and description of how to change the battery leaves a lot to be desired. I really wish I had gone through the procedure at the store....but I didnt and it is over 3 hours drive one way.

My question is this to those that have this computer.....

Is the back of yours a real bear to get off? I use the spanner tool and it turns easily, but getting the black ring out is just ungodly hard.

And, the manual mentions an O ring. Mine has no O ring. Do they mean an O ring just like on a tank.....a circular piece of black rubber??? No got.

Taken apart and laid out I have....
1. The Black circular outer retainer ring that accepts the spanner
2. A clear circular piece of plastic that goes under the black outer retainer.
3. Inside there is a little black bar that falls out easily. It is called the battery retainer but it does not really hold anything. Take off the outer retainer with the spanner and the clear circular item and the black bar just fall out.

Its Sunday and I dont think the store where I got this is open so calling wont do anything....and I am sure they willl help me during the week....but this is buggin the heck out of me.

If you have one and have changed the battery....LET ME KNOW.

Just went to the Oceanic site to check if yours is same as mine ( VEO 200 ) yes, there should be an "O" ring , it may be blending in with the black edge of the case
Be careful when you put it back together, will be hard to get the clear back all the way down to capture the O ring and to be able to put the lock ring on (It gets better after you do it a few times to get the hang of it)

db...thanks for the come back....
i am going to have to get me a magnifying glass no doubt. I dont see any dang o ring on that thing.......

Not changing the battery yet......getting familiar with my equipment so when the time comes...I can change the battery.

Is the back of yours....the clear plastic part....does it slide around any at all or is it tight??

SUCCESS!!!!! Man sometimes I just feel like a real dips***.

I am not one to give up, so I took the back off again. I noticed the position of the wriststrap (buckle part) can make taking the back off very difficult so watch out for that. (if you have the console model you probably wont have that problem)

I got a bright flash light and yep...there it was.....that dang
O ring. At least I feel better I found the dang thing.

Needless to say having just got this yesterday I havent dived it yet. But I will say this....if you have one...and have to change the battery.....be at a table and be ready for the little black battery retainer bar to come flying out on you. Mine is very loose and does not snap in at all. If yours is the same....its comin outta there...be ready!!!

Now its Miller time....ahhhh

Nothing like success to wet the appetite for a cold beverage :D

Yeah, changing the battery would not be something I would like to do on a crowded, rocking boat.
Should'nt be a problem though if you check your battery status before leaving for the dive

Edit: the clear cover is tighter than *#@* , when you get it lined up and compressed down on the O ring
