Hi, i'm trying to replace the battery on my Oceanic veo100 computer. I've taken the puck out of the console. I've removed the retaining ring per the instructions. However, a clear smooth plastic cover is still preventing me from removing the battery. I can't find anything about this in the instructions. And there's not slot to use a quarter to remove it. Any help from someone who has changed it before?

Thanks

This is why I hate the battery system on Oceanic,Aeris, Suunto computers. I have two computers and one is an Oceanic.

Whatever you do don't use anything sharp and metal to get that plastic cap off. If you leave any scratches the computer is unlikely to seal and won't be watertight.

Maybe you will get lucky...maybe not. It's held on by pressure from your last dive. It's a horrible battery system in my opinion.

Maybe someone else will post with a proper tool...maybe something like a watch repair tool...I don't know what the factory uses...but do yourself a favor and back off until you find the answer or until the pressure releases and the cap just falls off.

This is the primary reason my other computer is a Tusa IQ-700 with a battery compartment that you do use a quarter to unscrew!

By the way, the best tool would be some type of suction tool.

I just did mine and had tp call the factory on the clear hatch. They said to use a very small(jewelers) screwdriver and apply slight pressure to the side and it popped off. No problem. Tim

If you keep your fingernails (don't bite, manicure in man-way only) OK, you can get an edge under the dome lip sufficient for air to get in, and not cut the 'O' ring. Jeweler's screwdriver is the technical alternative, but again, take care with the 'O' ring, otherwise you will have to replace it as well.
