Location
Vancouver Island
It's peeing down rain on Vancouver Island today. I should be diving. At least my gear is self-rinsing.
Any north west divers out there?

Howdy!

Howdy BC....
I really like diving up there on the island... been to most places with many more to go...where on the island are you located.. Victoria? Nootka? Nanaimo? Campbell River? Port Hardy... heheh.. better not say Port Hardy or you'll get a lot of "heyyya what are you doing this weekend.. can WE ALL come visting..." just joking....

Warm Water in Seattle... yeah sure...

Hey fpoole,
I live just north of Nanaimo. The diving here is awesome one you get used to the 'less warm' water. I haven't even dived Port Hardy. Where do you dive around Seattle?

Well Seattle certainly isn't as nice as Our Friends in the north.. but basically there are some locations to keep getting wet at... Edmonds, Mukilteo, Alki, Keystone and others, including Hoodsport - Sund rock.. I usually hit Campbell River on "OUR" heheheh.. labor day Sept..
I have dove north of Naniamo, forget the name, but go out of town, north, about 20 minutes?? there's a gas station, turn right, head through the residential area and it's just north of the Marina there.. actaully 2 places but the one next to the Marina, next cove or so, was really kewl... small beach, dive through a small channel/shoot and opens up with a wall on either side... really nice when the sun is out...

Really like it up there, need to get up there more... Race Rocks is on the list of "To Dos"..
Heheh.. I'm guessing since your an instructor, you're diving in a wet suit.. LOL... I don't know what it is, but I've never seen so many divers still diving in Wet Suits up there... geeez you guys got... well, nerves...
Hava good one.. this board seems to have a lot of stuff in it...

ps. i see they're sinking the Plane on Memorial Day... around Hornsby Island.. we have a group going up then and will be the 1st or close to it, to dive it...

Hava good one...

Hi wedivebc!

Welcome to SB! I'm not from your area but I've been diving there. Does that count??

Where is Nanaimo? Is that where the bars come from? Can I take a ferry or something to get there?

:D

Welcome from someone across the sea...wave and I'll wave back.

Hey All,
Another Vancouver island diver here. I'm from the Duncan area. (in between Victoria and Nanaimo) First time user just saying hello.

Heyya jsf35,
I note you're a Navy diver?? any word on some new "Ship Reefs" planned soon??

I see the 737 being "Planted" but hadn't heard of any new ships... Now the Florida is sinking the Carrier, I thought the pressure is on, competition?, to keep Canada the Ship/reef Capital of the Northern Continent??? any gossip??? eh?? ;-)

Hey fpoole,
I think there are only a couple decommissioned ships left. I don't know what the plans are for those. I'm looking forward to the 737 but I wonder how long it will last in salt water. Should be a good site though. Fairly shallow and surrounded by reef balls to attract more sea life. Can't wait.
