My current dive watch had just bit the dust and I hadn't replaced it yet. I was diving off the coast of Gulf Shores Alabama and I saw what I thought was a fin strap sticking up out of the mud. I thought I'd just pick up the trash and it was a Timex dive watch. Still ticking at 85FSW

My best non-artifact find so far has been a watch also. The watch was just outside the bounds of the normal human's freediving range and I'm sure the owner was frustrated he could see it but couldn't reach it. Still ticking....

I posted this a few months ago, but the weekend prior to my OW class, I went to our community pool with my new mask/snorkel/fins/booties to give them a test run before my pool sessions. The following is a cut/past from that post:

As I was snorkeling around in the 6' area - I found a nickel and a ladies diamond ring! It was really nice looking ring - gold band with 5 diamonds in a row across the top. If it is genuine - I bet the owner will really want it back! I turned it in at the pool office for their lost and found (yes I kept the nickel) but if no one claims it by the end of the season - I get to keep it.

I never heard from the pool office after Labor day, so either someone claimed the ring or one of the pool employees took it home <S>. Subsequently, during my OW pool sessions, I found a dime and a key ring. I haven't found anything else, but if this trend continues - I'm sure to be finding gold dubloons <sp?> and little loops of thread before too long.

Here's the thread from my original post:

My girlfriend, who happens to be my dive buddy, hehehe

sounds like a suck up to me . :D

I have found two rod and reel sets, some old wooden fish lures and ........................Syruss.............oh yeah that was the creepy find.

Butch :Peace:

yup definite suck up. My second post I've made. The most valuable thing I've found is a wedding ring, or a 30-06 rifle, or the 180 hp evinrude outboard, or maybe it was the rocket propelled gernade I found in Beaver lake, Arkansas. After 15 years and over 1000 dives I could go on and on. The main thing is that they were all neat and everything you find is almost yours to keep. Kinda.

I guess I did find something in the pool dives I found a pair of nice swim goggles they are in the bottom of my dive bag waiting for someone to claim!

Found a 6" perfect meg tooth, have lots of whale teeth(fossil)but the most valuable is silence.

Hehe - I found a VISA card at 40 fsw... that was pretty cool - unfortuantely my physique does not lend itself to "Sharon" which is the name on the card...
