Valsalva expels air from eye?

Thought you might be interested in the anatomy of the naso-lacrimal duct. It drains from the eye to the nose. That is why your nose runs when you cry. You have valves to keep the flow going one way from the eyes to the nose. Some times these don't work right and air or other substances can flow to the eyes. Repeatly causing reverse flow will not make the hole bigger but it could futher weaken the valves and cause increased back flow. You could also possibly force germs from the nose into the lacrimal sac and cause an infection.
