I just acquired a Fantasea FA6000 case. There are some things I really like about it (e.g., button to push the flash down, so no need for magnet hack, and all buttons work, unlike my Sea Frongs A6XXX case), but it doesn't have a vacuum seal system. It has an M16 port on the top left corner of the front part of the case and the manual says that can be used for a variety of purposes including a vacuum system. Fantasea makes a vacuum seal system (M16C seems to be the current version), but everything I find shows that installed on systems with an M16 port on the back of the case. I am guessing their system will work on the FA6000 (but with wires having to go across the hinge area), but can find nothing on using it in the FA6000.

Does anyone have experience with their vacuum system on the FA6000?

Many thanks.

So nobody has done this? Well, if anyone ever looks who has, please respond. Also, I noticed that Fantasea documentation says all their A6000 cases need a coarse-fine thread adapter for the M16 port for the vacuum system. No specs. on the thread sizes and nobody lists the adapter for sale. I emailed one shop that sells the vacuum system about the adapter and have gotten no response. HELP!

Looks like all you need to do is email Fantasea and ask about the coarse to fine convertor to make it work on the M16 port of the older Sony A6000 housing. Location of the port isn't as critical as proper threading in.

There's also this long page on compatibility to check out:

All the Fantasea housings (made by AOI) have dual o-rings (a lubed door one and flat "gasket" the door front flat area seals on also. Pretty reliable in my experience using Fantasea housings since 2016.

I know many want the vacuum system but wouldn't hesitate to use any Fantasea housing without one.

In fact I have for over a thousand dives :)

Many thanks! I replaced the dead leak sensor and took the empty case for a dive, with no leakage and was getting ready to use it without the vacuum sensor, so your experience and recommendation is helpful. The o-ring system definitely looks like a more reliable design than on the Sea Frogs Salted Line case, so maybe I should just go back to no vacuum testing - the Sea Frogs "remove before you dive" system still has 1 potential failure point, but at least tests the (at least to me) anxiety provoking door seal system.

IIRC, AOI makes a vacuum and moisture sensor and bundles it with a M16 vacuum port. Pulling a negative pressure is great, knowing that it is still there is priceless

About $100

Correct (except the price - >$200 from Fantasea, ~$165 from multiple shops). Just trying to find out if anyone has experience with it on this case, which only has an M16 port on the front piece (all Fantasea pictures show a back door M16 port) and, now that I see it requires a thread adapter, info about that. But David Haas' experience with >1000 dives with no leaks, without the vacuum system, is reassuring.

Barryattle,

Since you're in the PNW (Pacific North West) maybe call Mozaik and tell them the specific housing you want and they should be able to tell you this specific one would thread into your housing top port.

Scroll down as I see two versions here....

Good luck!
