Hello,

I have a Uwatec SmartCom Dive computer. I am using the SmartTrak software to log my dives. The problem is that on several dives, I surface to the top for a few minutes to discuss things with my dive buddy. After a certain amount of time, the computer counts the second descend as a new dive. I don't consider it a new dive, but an extension of the original dive. Is there anyway to merge two dives together on the SmartTrak program?

Thanks
Minh

My wifes computer does the same thing. My computer will merge them if the surface time is less than like 10 minutes.

Are you looking to do this for logging purposes or for planning your next dive (deco times, etc)?

I have wrestled with the same problem. I haven't figured out how to do it. I imagine if you know the database format, you could splice it together, but you'd have to know if there were cumulated fields to change the sums. And, that seems kind of tedious. I have trimmed the tell end of a heart rate monitor download where I forgot to stop the monitor and really wanted the session.

Alucard - I am interested in it for the purpose of logging. I don't want my logs to show that I have more dives that I really have. Being a newbie, I am still practicing a lot of skills such as ascending at a slow pace. Then at the top of the water, my buddy and I talk about what went well and what could have been improved. Since we may spend up to 10 minutes de-briefing before heading back down, our computer counts that as a new dive. I don't consider each descent and ascent as separate dive.

Looks like SmartTrack .slg file is just an MS Access database. It is password protected but the password is not particularly strong one and there are plenty of tools on the web to "recover" it. Takes less than a second. So if you know what's you are doing open the log file in MS Access make all the mods you like and save it. Be sure to make a backup of your original file before you start playing with it. Just in case :)
