How will I know the battery needs replacing? Is it diy or must it go back to Scubapro? Timeframe?

What model is it? Some are user repl, some are dealer and some have to go to the factory.

Pretty sure that's a factory battery. You should be able to get a battery strength reading by hitting the 2 right contacts while it is turned on in surface mode. I would recomend sending it in at about 30% turnaround is usually 3-4 weeks.
They won't accept it if it's more than 30. I get about 200 more dives out of them by the time mine hit 30%.

Last August when I sent mine in for the battery replacement I was informed that they could no longer service it. I was offered a special deal to upgrade to a smart Z at a nominal cost. The batteries in it are warranted for life at any ScubaPro dealer and can be changed by the shop.

Underwater sports will replace it in seattle, like $70 to $80 bucks and shipping, More than likely in 3to4 weeks turnaround or sooner.
