Turneffe Island Lodge is my favorite Caribbean resort for diving and service so far. The Lodge is an upsale diver's resort with vallet diving, excellent food, outstanding service and fantastic diving to boot! On our dives we saw big stuff such as pods of dolphins, reef sharks, eagle rays, a manta ray, huge loggerhead turtles, king mackrel, barracuda, turtles, morays and large nurse sharks.

We also dived Utila from Laguna Beach Resort. The resort was great. The diving is good and interesting, but big fish are not abudant and it appears to be overfished. Heading to a dive site, from time to time we passed Utopia Village, which looks nice. I was told the resort is new and might have some infrastructure issues to work out, but that was over a year and a half ago.

Comparing these dive destinations, my preference would be Turneffe Island Lodge for the outstanding service and, most of all, diving. Refering to a 5K budget from your company to take a Caribbean dive vacation - that's awesome!!! Get one of the cabannas - they are more $$! I want a job like yours! :D

Although we love Utila (see our links below), all of the Atolls of Belize are fantastic. Probably the most unspoiled diving in the Carribbean. Utopia is very nice. Its about a mile down the beach from our place and we've had dinner there a couple of times. Turneffe is equally as nice. Both are very remote. Its a good decision you have to make and hard to go wrong.

If you have money to spare and want to dive a lot you should look into the Utila Aggressor. I worked on the boat for almost two years and can tell you that its a great way to spend a dive vacation. Week long trips leave from Utila and you dive in Utila, Roatan, and Coco's Seamount. 5 dives a day, includes night dives every night. Meals, snacks, and beer & wine are all included. Royal treatment from the crew.
If you're interested in land based, Laguan Beach Resort is a great place to go. Private bungalow style cabins with hot water showers, A/C, and private balconys & piers. Packages include 3 meals a day, 3 boat dives a day, 2 night boat dives a week, unlimited shore diving, unlimited horseback riding, kayaking & biking, r/t transfers Utila airport/resort, and taxes. Domestic airfare is also provided.
For more information look at Utila Dive Ventures - Get best prices for Utila Laguna Beach Resort, Utila Aggressor, Utila Water Sports and more or contact me.

Check out Thatch Caye in southern Belize, not only do they do day dives but they also have their own private liveaboard.
