We are new to Scubaboard but not to diving. We have around 300 dives and advanced certifications.

We are planning our 1st trip to Utila in late April/early May. We are considering staying at Utila Lodge. Anyone have any recent stays there or comments regarding their stay in the past year? We are also considering Deep Blue. We would like to get travel arrangements made in the next week or so.

Lots-a-Links...

why not start with this link: A beginner's guide to the ScubaBoard.Com forums.
It will give you lots of info regarding ScubaBoard.

Please fill out your Public Profile (and Dive Info) when you've got the time so we can get to know you a little bit better. If you want to, you can have a look at my Public Profile for inspiration. ;)

Have a look at our General Central and South America forum.

BTW, welcome (Scub)aBoard! :happywave

Just returned from the Utila Lodge and I can highly recommend it. The lodge itself is lovely, the rooms are large, clean and nicely appointed, including a screened porch overlooking the harbour. The diving is great and is so easy. The divemaster will set up your gear each day and change your tanks between dives. They do two morning dives and one afternoon dive (except for two days when they exchange afternoon diving for night diving). The lodge is located in the heart of town and you can wander around quite easily and take in the sites. The food was great and plentiful. The staff and management couldn't be more pleasant and helpful. The dive sites are great, the coral and fish are larger than I've seen. The boat captain is a pro at spotting the big stuff and we were able to swim with a pod of dolphins and see a large sperm whale up close. In addition to the usual sites, we played with a large turtle and followed a couple of big stingrays. I would highly recommend the Utila Lodge for a great vacation....be sure to ask for the coffee service, it is a delightful wake up call and nice to sit on the porch and watch the pelicans.

Welcome to SB.

Though I didn't stay at the Utila Lodge I had a wonderful time in Utila. Great diving and the nightlife was fun, too.

Sea ya!

If you have any questions about Deep Blue you can either email us the owners with questions or Email you telephone number and we will happily call you.

I would suggest looking at www.AboutUtila.com there are write up about both, also search this board, for some great comments about both.

Divegang,

Welcome to the board!!

I have been diving off and on with Deep Blue for years, as well as others on the island. They all have good operations. If you want "the extra touch of class" I'd really look at Deep Blue. The owners, Steve, Shirley & Jasmine are there 24/7 to address your every need. The lodge is new and immaculate. Also recommend you check out www.aboututila.com for a good overview. I will be in Utila next week for a period of time and I very much look forward to diving again with our friends at Deep Blue.

Regards,
