Went to Utila end of December. Snorkelled with Whale Sharks between dives! Dive operater was Captain Morgan's. Good boat that can get to the North Side of the Island (where the whale sharks are). Good staff. Fun party afterwards on Water Cay with Bando fish stew, rum, etc... Best day of diving in 17 years!

Hi

Glad you had a great time, and glad you saw the whale sharks, we have records on the island of seeing them every month of the year now for the last 2 years and we see more at the end of Feb / March / April / September / December time.

They are truly a amazing creatures to see and something that you never forget, hope you come back and visit Utila again soon.

I will. I loved the place but will only dive on the North Side of the island when I go back.

The North side offers some spectacular diving but the East and South sides are/can be very nice dives too. Personally I enjoy them all.

I got an ear infection which may have been caused by diving sites too close to town (south side). I think they may have a slight sanitation problem. I was O.K. after I started rinsing my ear canals with alcohol after each dive. Some dive operators seem to stick to sites close to town to save on gas.

You only need to look at prices to figure out which dive centers stick close to town and which are charging enough to cover fuel costs to take divers further afield. Just like the rest of life, for the most part you get what you pay for.
