Is November a good time for diving in Utila? According to what I read, whalesharks should be present, rainy season should be finished.
I like to see colourful reefs/walls, I read about submerged reefs attracting big fish.
Does Utila compare to worldclass destinations like Red Sea or Indonesia?
Should I expect a lot of current?
How about safety on the island?

Thank you.
Cheers,
Liberty

Hi

I do not know where you have been reading details on Utila, but I would love to see a copy as I will email them and tell them what they are saying is wrong.

End of October / November is the START of the rainy season.

Whale Sharks, we do see them all year round but the main times are March / April / September December.

We have very little current here.

Have you dived the Caribbean before ? it is hard to compare such varied places as you mention due to differnt species especially of coral, we do have great coral here.

It will also depend on when you went to the Red Sea, I was there 20 years ago when a lot of it was still untouched, it is very very different now.

You ask about safety on the island, I would say that it is a very safe place, of course there is crime like anywhere else but here it is just mainly petty therft if it happens.

Another thing you mention is ''submerged reefs attract big fish '' I thought all reefs were submerged !!!!! I am sorry I do not understand what you mean by this.

Thank you.
So what is the best time then for diving and snorkelling with whalesharks?
I read about "underwater mountains" aorund Utila that attract big fish.

Cheers, Liberty

Steve,
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay with you back in May and I agree Black Hills was an awesome dive, we really miss Honduras even though the temp in NC is running around 100 sort of feels like Honduras. Steve tell Shirley, Jasmine, Matt and Swin hey. Liberty if you go I highly recommend Deep Blue.
sorry to hijack the thread,
Greg & Deb
