Am heading to Utila this Wednesday... :D Diving with the UDC and staying at their Mango Inn... Going to be getting my AOW cert while I'm there... Any one got any last minute advice or dive sites I should request?

BTW... my dive partner cut out on me and I got an extra bed in my room if anyone out there is spontaneous enough...

Sand Fleas Suck!

Deep Wood OFF will keep some of them off you and Cortizone will soothe the itching. Bring it with you, because you can't always get stuff on the island and Sand Fleas can distroy a vacation. My girlfriend had to take a day off diving because she couldn't get any sleep due to her itchy, Sand Flea bitten legs; the first dive she's missed in about the last 200-- it was a big deal.

You can also deal with Sand Fleas by just not itching them. It sucks for the first few days but they stop bothering you and you're offically a local. That's what I do and I don't have as many scares as she does. :-)

UDC will take great care of you. Be sure to check out some of the other outfits while you're there to get a great variety of dives in.

Don't forget to have a Mango Inn wood fired pizza. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, good.

Ditto on the bug junk. Just remember it eats nylon, well melts it anyways. Take a bunch.

Try to do a dive or two on the north side. We never made it there because of the winds. Supposably better than the south side.

Visit the Treenatic Bar and Resturant. Just down the street from Mango Inn. Another is to stop by Mike's for dinner and a beer. He has a sign out right near Cross Creek Dive Center which is UDC's sisiter shop. He cooks everyother day. Nice simple but damn good food.
