Utila - Christmas/New Year period

Hey all,
I'm very new to this forum and this is actually my first post.
I am planning to go to Utila in few weeks, at Christmas, and I'll stay there for about 2-3 weeks. I read a lot about it and I have to say that the more I read, the more confused I get with all the choices.

From experience, are there any particular dive centers you would recommend? I heard positive comments about Alton's, BICD and Cross Creek, among others.

And in terms of accommodation, any recommendation on a nice yet not too expensive place (for info, I am looking for a private room, not a dorm).

We stayed at Mango Inn and dove Utila Dive Center. Very pleased with both and we got a very good package deal so I suggest calling/emailing Mango to see what kind of deal you can get.

UDC is really an extraordinarily well run operation. Because they do a lot of advanced certs and fewer rec divers we wound up with our own boat and DM more than once.

Laguna Beach Resort has a book one diver, get the second 50% off if you have a buddy. This is a very good deal. Also Deep Blue has an all-inclusive package for $850pp but does not include transportation to Utila from Roatan (add about $225 for R/T air). Of course, Utopia Village is always a favorite and has good packages.

We got 3 dives/day, full bfast & dinner and a suite for under $900 pp for 7 days.
