Using foot gloves as a dive bootie

Has anyone tried using foot gloves (generic non brand specific) as a bootie?

Most manufactures make at least one model in neoprene. Since it's thin and lightweight I'm considering trying them, not just for diving, but I am a fan of multi use gear.

There was a guy on our boat in Utila last week wearing Five Fingers.

I noticed and thought I should ask him about how they were working out but then I went diving and promptly forgot to follow up.
