On my stage bottle I only have an SPG and would realy like to control my pressure from my computer.

How does your computer "control" the pressure in your tanks?

oops - I see this question has already been asked.

It's nice idea to have all you gas displayed on one read-out. But at what cost?

4 stage dive, means 4 transmitters (plus backgas 5!!). Lots of money when an SPG will do the job and you don't wince as much when one breaks and you have to buy a new one.

What's extra crazy is sidemount. On any normal dive of mine I have a minimum of three tanks with me (mains plus O2). They each would need their own transmitter. Also, every 600psi means a gas switch in the computer. So a single stage dive means 4 transmitters. That's pushing a thousand bucks right there, just for the "added simplicity" of failure points and complacency with practically zero reduced workload (maybe increased).

@RJP

The latest "firmware" will control the pressure. You can also dynamically change the Nitrox % if you buy the "upgrade".

Dynamically changing nitrox %? Sounds like a really cheap way to become a rebreather diver. If it controls the pressure AND EANx %......I'll just set the pressure to service pressure at all times and hang the EANx at an appropriate PP02 setting for depth!!

Dang, looks like I need a new computer!!! So long, Petrel!

Please explain how the computer "controls" the pressure.

I'm with RJP on this one.
Something is definitely getting lost in translation. I know of no OC transmitter that will control pressure, only display pressure. Change Nitrox setting on the computer during a dive will not change the contents of the stage.

Does anyone use ai transmiter on deco stage tank?

I currently use a Galileo Sol with transmiter on my back gaz. I also have a SPG.

On my stage bottle I only have an SPG and would realy like to control my pressure from my computer.

Any suggestions

Sure.

From the owners manual:

"If after another 40 seconds Galileo still has not received any signal from the transmitter,
another audible sequence goes off and the
message PRESSURE SIGNAL LOST appears
for 12 seconds, after which the RBT is not
displayed any longer and the tank pressure
is replaced with – – – . Check the position of
Galileo with respect to the transmitter. Start
ascending if you don’t get a tank pressure
reading.
"

That last part isn't possible if you have a deco obligation.

I own the Sol and it's a very cool computer, and if somehow you screw up and end up with a deco obligation, it does a pretty good job of getting you to the surface alive.

However I would never knowingly plan a deco dive with any computer, with the assumption that it wouldn't fail.

My preference is vPlanner, with the plan taped to my wrist. Clear packing tape over a laser printed plan has a huge reliability advantage over a tiny bit of electronics that depends on batteries.

Also, AFAIK, only the battery in the computer is monitored. You know when the transmitter battery dies because it stops working.

flots.
