I've been looking for a light for night diving (recreational in tropical waters), but as i don't do this very often, some advice from more experienced peeps would be appreciate

My preference is for a non-canister light and attachable to goodman handle/glove. But does this not cause a problem when using the hand (e.g. to adjust inflator or check dive computer/spg)?

When renting the typical pistol grip type with lanyard around the wrist, i can release my grip on the light and it will generally just shine downwards, and so won't get into anyone's eyes.

Also, any recommendation for lights which can be easily removed from the glove and clipped to front of bp/w (and vice versa)? Which should solve above problem.

Hope i'm not overthinking things.

The whole idea of a goodman handle is to still have the use of your hand.

So whether you use a handle or a glove, if properly fitted, you should be able to have free mobility of that hand.

look on something like thumb finger grip :D

I made my own 'soft' goodman using some spare weightbelt webbing. Works a treat...cost virtually nothing.

I've made another 5 since then, because everyone keeps asking...

Will try and get a 'how to' posted up, with photos, in the near future.

You need:

6" of weight-belt webbing
4x SS 3mm nuts/bolts
Some thin rubber or neoprene approx 2" by 4" (not absolutely necessary)
1ft of 3mm bungee
A soldering iron
A small spanner (for 3mm bolts)
Tube of 3M High Bond Adhesive

Luxury version uses extra:

4" (not 6") of weight-belt webbing
6" of soft crotch-strap webbing
1ft of 1" webbing strap
1x extra thin rubber or neoprene approx 2" by 4"
