@lowviz - You might want to ask/look over on the VDH forum. Folks there are the ones in the know, and frequently are moving things. Some barn fresh, some ready to dive....

@lowviz - Rob at the Scuba Museum has a number of options, including a "Series 1" Kraken....

About Us

His rebuilt regs are truly ready to dive. He knows what he is doing!

Banjo fitting + DIN w/ inserts rarely fit together. I found 2 (out of many) inserts that were the right size for everything to line up when I got my DAAM. Most combos of valve, plug, and banjo were too thicc for the yoke to fit over.

@rhwestfall, I did my homework.

It appears that the Argonaut Kraken is precisely what I want. I just want the bubbles behind me. I don't need to go down another rabbit hole lined with true vintage dive gear...

The only question is with DIN. DIN would be extremely convenient for me. Is DIN vs. yoke a kludge or an easy choice wit the Kraken?

Finding one is the hardest thing. DIN will be a very rare bird. The early ones use a very rare part for conversion, the newer model is a more common one. There are discussions on VDH somewhere about it. I'd say grab one in yoke, and you can [possibly] change if wanted. I dove mine (yoke) with pro-valves without issue.

An updated DA/RAM/etc. with a Phoenix, HPR, and DBE is basically a Kraken (yes, there were additional flow improvements made possible with "from the ground up design). So, if you had a thing for "shiny stuff", a pimped old DH would be the thing. Otherwise, yeah, the Kraken is really a good choice.

Tht "Series 1" that is at The Scuba Museum would be challenging at best to make DIN (same one I have). Again, it works with my pro-valves, so you just need tome yoke plugs if your DIN is not 300 BAR......

When I looked, the series 1 at The Scuba Museum showed as sold out.... Am I missing something?

It wasn't when I saw it... oh well... yep, hard to come by this day and age...
