@CandiveOz I actually don't own any Xstreams because they're expensive. I usually buy doubles sets of Jetstreams for about $250-$300, but the Xstreams seem to be going for like $250 each *1x first and second stage*. Since that's the old generation I'd probably say $250-$300 for a singles set

@rsingler thanks for the update on the ruby ball and @tbone1004 thanks for the estimated market value. You guys have given me enough ammo to ask the seller the right questions and make an informed decision.

Much appreciated,

Candiveoz

Hello all,
I have been searching through about this OPV as well, since I have an Xstream 1st serial 0120, and a Jetstream 1st serial 3960.

I have omniswivel currently installed on my Xstream 2nd, planning to change all hoses to miflex.

But do these regs has OPV?

Cheers in advance

That jetstream first stage probably does have an integral OPV. And the xstream may, or may not. It should be pretty obvious by looking at the bottom of both first stages. I have one early xstream first stage with a totally flat bottom. (No OPV in the first stage)

I’m pretty sure the Omni swivel reg adaptors have an OPV built in..

If you post a couple pics we can confirm

After looking at both. I think I know what you are talking about @Caveeagle. My Xstream does not have and my Jetstream do have. And I dont think my swivel has any OPV.

Need to find an OPV and plug it into unused IP? Do you guys have any suggestion on an exact additinal OPV? Link would be nice.

Cheers

In addition to replacing the steel ball with that industrial ruby; the replacement for that early cover, which prevented any real IP adjustment, with one with an adjustable screw (way too much aquavit and surströmming, in terms of Swedish engineering!); there may also be the need for an upgrade kit (4826, which retails for US 85.00), for models whose serial numbers fall below 310001, which includes upper and lower pin guides (which was originally a single piece); pin bushings; a washer; seat holder, etc.

I would be insistent upon knowing the serial numbers, before any purchase.

In terms of an OPV, I still use Poseidon hoses, on some of my older rigs (see photo above), which already possess that feature . . .

The Jetstream has an opv.
The extreme does not

I don’t see any OPV on the hose/ regs

you can find Omni-swivels that are poseidon specific and have an integrated OPV. I would order one of those for the exstreme.

The early XStream first stages did not possess an OPV; and they most certainly used the Jetstream-style hoses with the integral valves (which don't appear, at all, like those after-market OPVs); but those expensive hoses were discontinued after about 2008, when the valve eventually found its way to the first stage . . .

Here is a picture of a later xstream first stage with the integral OPV. Not 100% sure about this, but the story I heard was that Dive Rite used to source first stages from poseidon for one of their models, and had them ad the OPV. Later models, it became standard.

also, a picture of a couple poseidon specific Omni adaptors with the OPV, (next to a non valved version)

The Dive Rite regs from Poseidon are the MK3 first stage and those were available at the time from Poseidon as well, but Dive Rite's were black.

@evilizlan if you buy Omniswivel branded adapters they will have the OPV built into the adapter. Those are available as straight, right angle, and ball swivel. The XS Scuba that you have on there does not have the OPV built in. The 3960 has the OPV on the bottom, but the MK2 on the Xstream does not have one. Only one of the second stages has to have the OPV on it, or you can use the cheap ones that screw into a LP port.
